Loungin'

These past few days have been spent drinking various fermented drinks in my hammock. Its been amazingly relaxing and just the break I needed. On Sunday, my housemates and I tubed down the Huron River, no pictures of this because it was terribly dangerous for me to have my phone, but next time I will be sure to purchase a waterproof disposable camera.

I'm hoping to spend a good amount of my summer in the woods or the diag lounging, although I know it will be a rare treat. Next Orgo exam is Monday and I am scared to death, so good luck seeing me at all this week.
I made a classic Kate meal yesterday as well.

Ciabatta bread (toasted), pesto, fresh mozzarella, red peppers, tomatoes, and avocados baked at 425F for 15 minutes.
Cold brewed ice tea, ginger, lemon juice, and strawberries were the finishing touch to a delicious lunch!

My weekend was not only filled with relaxation though, Saturday night was our first progressive of the summer. I got very drunk in very little amounts of clothes. It was great.

Earlier that day I did some crowd surfing at Bledfest, a local music festival in Howell, MI.

Welp, I have finished my coffee so I suppose its time for me to pack up for the library. (Wahh)

WEEKEND ESCAPADE

It has been quite the weekend, let me tell you. The journey started saturday morning with a trek across (a part of) the midwest to Sandusky with my best pals. They rode roller coasters while I sat in a Starbucks drinking terrible coffee and studying orgo. After a hotel debacle that left us without lodging until 4am, I hated the world and everyone in it. But the next day everything changed because it was time to see LADY GAGA. I never thought I could love her more than I already did, but I was sadly mistaken. She is, truly, my idol.

We did a lot of waiting around and looking cool.

And then.... IT WAS TIME

After the concert we drove straight back to Ann Arbor and I woke up at 7:30 to go take the dreaded exam. But afterwards we picnicked in the arb, which was beautifully relaxing.

I am exhausted, pce&<3

Just gonna leave this here....

irinia
Unworded Poetry

ask your blood
your limbs, your breathing feet
what Poetry is -
a phylogenetic anomaly
in light’s discontinuity

or just…
the strange yearning of hematopoiesis

ask the silence in your lungs
the bursting DNA, reinterpreted
how it allures memory inside your bones
how it treads conventions of sleep
with the weight of a sigh

if you ask me
what Poetry is
I’d say: breath calligraphy
a winged dream of depth
on enchanted retina
the bitter-sweet art of airy harmony

ask your hands
what Poetry is
perhaps they’ll take a moment
to bloom

I Wanna Dress You Up in Silk

The sun is finally back! After a week of dismal skies, I can finally feel the heat upon my face again. Although my spirits have lifted, my soul is still crushed by stress of my upcoming orgo exam. I will unfortunately be spending my day tomorrow in a coffee shop in Ohio while my friends ride roller coasters. But its okay because on Sunday I'm seeing the one and only LADY GAGA. I am beyond excited for this. Here's my costume I put together for the concert:

Safe to say, I am psyched.

Despite having an extraordinarily uninteresting day, I've made some delectable meals.

Breakfast:

Breakfast Pizza: Fried pita bread, sprinkled cinnamon, nutella, peanut butter, strawberries, and a banana. Simple and delicious.

Lunch:
Pita, hummus, breaded chicken breast, tomatoes, and kale. Yes I know I eat a lot of pita.

Back to studying I go!

Currently spinning:

Lady Gaga: Swine
(duh I'm listening to Artpop)

Look down, from above, and problems are small

Something about wearing hiking boots leaves me feeling almost invincible. Puddles? Uneven terrain? Mud pits? No problem.
Today was my first day back on the high ropes course this season for work, and it was great. Its both invigorating and terrifying to be 40 feet in the air tethered only to a wire while jumping around on wooden structures and rope.

Now I'm sweaty and exhausted, but I did make a kick ass salad!

(Kale, tomatos, dried cherries, avocado, and grilled chicken)

What I'm grooving to today:

Off to do more Orgo now, peace.

A Menial Monday

I decided I would erratically document my summer with a blog, because thats what hipsters do, right?

My summer spent in Ann Arbor will be filled with classes and two jobs, but hopefully I'll have some adventures in between. If no one follows this, thats fine as well because my underlying thoughts while creating this was the image of myself, in like 10 years, looking back on my life. Or something like that.

Anyways, today has been spent watching out for tornados, reading Game of Thrones, class, making ice coffee and now trying to grasp the concepts in my extremely thick organic chemistry textbook. I suppose I should get back to epoxation reactions.
